Customer Service Engineer

Overview

In this role you deliver expert technical support for medium-speed diesel engines used in marine, offshore, and land-based power installations. You work with internal engineers and customers to analyze data, run performance tests, and troubleshoot both remote and on-site issues. You coordinate field activities, support the dealer network and sales teams, and guide engine upgrade discussions to optimize performance.

You’ll play a pivotal part in solving complex problems and upholding Caterpillar’s technical leadership across global projects.

• Provide expert technical support to customers and internal teams for medium-speed diesel engines and related systems
• Analyze engine data, troubleshoot operating problems, and perform performance tests
• Optimize engine settings in collaboration with the performance team
• Conduct fault detection remotely and on-site as needed, and advise remedial actions
• Support dealers and end-customers with technical inquiries and participate in customer meetings
• Prepare detailed inspection and service reports for customers
• Coordinate field activities and communicate engine upgrade solutions and benefits
• Represent the company in complex damage or customer complaint scenarios and assist negotiations

• Degree or Diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering or suitable engineering qualifications
• Several years of experience in technical support, testing, and on-site servicing of large medium-speed engines
• Strong knowledge of large medium-speed engine technology and A&I guidelines
• Experience with digital engine control systems, governors, and monitoring systems
• Understanding of ship propulsion systems, offshore installations, and/or power plant interfaces
• Strong analytical and communication skills; willingness to travel internationally (40%)
• Proficiency in English; other languages advantageous
