Role Description The Cyber Security Trainer is a part-time, remote role responsible for designing and delivering high-quality cybersecurity training programs to learners at various skill levels. Day-to-day tasks include preparing lesson plans and course materials, conducting live online sessions, recording training modules, and creating practical labs and exercises in areas such as application security, network security, and information security. The trainer will assess learner progress through assignments, quizzes, and projects, provide constructive feedback, and offer guidance on best practices, career pathways, and industry certifications.
The role also involves keeping training content current with emerging threats, tools, and methodologies, collaborating with the curriculum team, and ensuring an engaging, inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Cybersecurity and Information Security principles, frameworks, and best practices, and the ability to explain them clearly to diverse learners.
- Hands-on skills in Network Security and Application Security, including secure architecture, configuration, vulnerability assessment, and mitigation techniques.
- Experience with Malware Analysis, threat detection, and incident response, and the ability to design practical, scenario-based learning activities.
- Prior experience as a trainer, instructor, or mentor in technical domains; strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Familiarity with security tools (e.g., IDS/IPS, SIEM, firewalls, vulnerability scanners) and common operating systems and networks.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CISSP, CISM, or similar are highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage part-time teaching schedules, and adapt content for different learner backgrounds.
