Job Description

Head of Sales – Biogen Canada – Leveraging Pfizer’s dedicated focus on Alzheimer’s Disease and other therapeutic areas, this role reports to the Head of Commercial & Alzheimer’s Disease and is responsible for driving appropriate use of Biogen brands and services, improving patient journey to care, and growing the Biogen Canada portfolio across all therapeutic areas and assigned sales territories.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high‑performing sales organization, attracting top talent, setting clear expectations, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability, and ensuring both team and individual growth.
  • Coaching and mentoring the Partnership Account Lead (PAL) sales team; develop structured coaching plans and address low performance appropriately.
  • Set clear performance metrics and accountability frameworks; establish and track sales metrics, incentive plans, and key performance indicators across therapeutic areas.
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers and healthcare providers; identify market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to refine sales strategies.
  • Develop and implement national and regional sales strategy aligned with overall business objectives; grow revenue of the Biogen portfolio in all accounts, territories, and provinces, achieving sales targets and field‑force effectiveness measures.
  • Define PAL teams’ annual goals, objectives, and sales incentive compensation plan (SICP); mobilize resources and collaborate with cross‑functional partners to develop and implement strategic account and provincial plans (SAP).
  • Lead business analysis, diagnosis, and account‑specific action planning; deploy course‑corrective measures and track execution of initiatives.
  • Provide input on sales forecasts and track key sales metrics to ensure performance goals are met; analyze and report account performance while managing the allocated national sales activity budget.
  • Drive improvement in sales force execution and competitive capabilities; contribute to franchise strategic and business plans and monthly operational reviews.
  • Work closely with cross‑functional partners to ensure alignment of sales efforts with product launches, brand strategies, and organizational objectives.
  • Perform all sales activities in compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards; maintain high standards of compliance and ethics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Medical, pharmaceutical, science, or business‑related degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a people manager who has transformed team performance and/or structure.
  • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech sales; 3+ years in a head‑office environment with impact on field execution.
  • Experience launching products and leveraging a cross‑functional environment.
  • Knowledge of one of Biogen’s active therapeutic areas preferred but not required.
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written; proficiency in French is a strong asset.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel more than 50% of the time.
  • Direct reports of 2 to 6 Specialty PALs and 3 Rare Disease PALs.
