Overview

In this role you define, design and deliver high-performance ICE components for McLaren vehicle platforms, collaborating across internal and external teams. You will influence packaging, supplier relations and technical specifications to meet cost, time and attribute targets. The position offers growth within a world-renowned automotive brand and hybrid working options from Woking.

You will work with cross-functional teams to implement innovative powertrain solutions that integrate seamlessly with the vehicle.

Responsibilities
  • Own technical knowledge of high-performance ICE components and sub-systems
  • Define, design and deliver MAL engine systems across stakeholders to meet attributes, cost and schedule
  • Create Engine System Technical Product Specification including drawings, specs, DFMA, aligned with BS 8888 and ISO GPS
  • Collaborate with internal/external teams to meet technical specs and programme timing
  • Deliver BOMs, specifications, FMEAs, DVP, and coordinate with purchasing and SQD for cost and quality targets
  • Apply innovative Powertrain/Driveline solutions for integration and application
  • Support vehicle programme attribute owners in development and reporting
  • Ensure interfaces with structure, packaging, aerodynamics and cooling systems
  • Establish design release per project timing
  • Define and evaluate component testing and support powertrain/vehicle development
  • Support prototype/production vehicle manufacturing, launch and planning
  • Prepare and present status material for reviews
Key requirements
  • Relevant high-performance automotive OEM or motorsport experience in component delivery
  • Experience delivering components within APQP or similar framework including FMEA and PPAP
  • Understanding and/or application of CAE methods
  • Proficient in CATIA V5; 2D/3D skills
  • BS 8888 and ISO GPS (geometrical tolerancing) experience
  • PC literacy with MS Office
  • Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree (2:1 or above)
