Accountant

Overview

In this Financial Controller role you drive the finance function for a Blackpool-based business, reporting to the Finance Director and leading a small team. You own month-end, management accounts, budgets and forecasts, and the year-end process with external audit. You provide insightful financial reporting to senior management and drive improvements in systems and controls.

The role combines technical accounting with strategic input to support business growth and decision making.

• Line management of a small finance team with development focus
• Lead month-end and management accounts with insightful commentary
• Own budgets and forecasts; monitor variances and drivers
• Participate in year-end processes including external audit
• Provide financial reports and analysis to senior management for strategic planning
• Drive continual improvements to financial systems and processes and strengthen controls
• Collaborate with non-finance Heads of Departments to deliver financial insight and influence decisions

• Qualified: CIMA, ACA, or ACCA
• Proven experience in a similar Financial Controller role
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to work cross-functionally
• Experience in staff management/supervisory roles
• Ability to implement improvements within a finance function
