We value clarity over complexity and reliability over noise. About the Role We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our team working on a high-traffic consumer technology platform. You will build and maintain APIs, services, and data pipelines that power real-time user experiences at scale.

This is a polyglot role. Our backend spans Node.js (Express) and Python (FastAPI, Django), with both MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. You will move between languages and frameworks depending on what the problem demands.

If you are the kind of engineer who gets uncomfortable being locked into one stack, you will fit right in. You will use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) as everyday tools. We expect you to be proficient with them, not just familiar.

Knowing how to prompt, review AI-generated code critically, and ship faster because of it is a core part of how we work. Key Responsibilities Write clean, testable backend code in TypeScript/JavaScript (Express) and Python (FastAPI/Django) Design and maintain database schemas and optimize queries for performance Build and extend APIs that handle real user traffic at scale• Use AI coding assistants effectively to accelerate development without sacrificing code quality Collaborate with frontend engineers, DevOps, and project leads Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architecture decisions Own features end-to-end: from understanding requirements to deployment and monitoring Requirements What You'll Work On RESTful APIs serving high-traffic consumer applications Event pipelines, click tracking, and analytics infrastructure Database design, query optimization, and migrations across MySQL and PostgreSQL Integration with third-party services and internal microservices Background jobs, scheduling, and async processing Production debugging, monitoring, and performance tuning Tech Stack Languages: TypeScript, JavaScript, Python Backend frameworks: Express.js, FastAPI, Django Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL Infrastructure: Docker, CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments (GCP/AWS) AI tools: Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar Other: Redis, message queues, REST APIs, Git Who is this Role for This role is a great fit if: You have 0-4 years of backend engineering experience You are comfortable working across multiple languages and frameworks You actively use AI coding assistants and understand their strengths and limits You care about writing code that other people can read and maintain You enjoy working on systems that serve real users at real scale You learn fast and don't need to be told twice What we care more about than your resume Adaptability > deep expertise in one framework AI-fluency > years of experience Clear thinking > buzzwords Ownership mindset > following instructions Side projects, experiments, GitHub repos, or well-documented failures are a big plus Bonus (Nice to Have, Not Required) Experience with high-traffic systems or event-driven architectures Exposure to click tracking, analytics pipelines, or real-time data processing Understanding of system design fundamentals Experience with containerization and deployment workflows Benefits Growth at Jetbro If you do well, this role can grow into: Senior Backend Engineer Platform / Infrastructure Engineer System Architect (longer term) We invest heavily in people who invest in learning.
