About the Role
We are looking for a hands‑on Production Engineer to join our family‑run manufacturing business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring quality standards, driving process improvements, and maintaining strong client relationships. This role requires someone comfortable working closely with the shop floor while also engaging directly with clients and management.
Roles & Responsibilities
Design & Documentation
- Assist in product/component design and design modifications based on production feasibility
- Prepare and maintain technical drawings, specifications, and BOMs
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all production processes
- Ensure SOP compliance is followed across all shifts and departments
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on order requirements
- Allocate machines, manpower, and materials efficiently to meet delivery timelines
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to avoid bottlenecks or delays
- Coordinate with procurement/stores for timely material availability
Machine Operations (Laser & CNC)
- Operate and/or supervise laser cutting machines for accurate and efficient output
- Operate and/or supervise CNC bending machines, ensuring dimensional accuracy
- Set up machine parameters, troubleshoot operational issues, and minimize downtime
- Conduct routine machine checks and coordinate preventive maintenance
Quality & Process Improvement
- Monitor product quality at each production stage and reduce rejection/rework rates
- Identify inefficiencies in processes and implement improvements to reduce cost and cycle time
- Maintain production records, reports, and quality documentation
Client Engagement
- Liaise directly with clients regarding order specifications, timelines, and technical requirements
- Address client queries related to design, production status, or quality concerns
- Coordinate with sales/clients for sample approvals and final dispatch confirmations
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with existing and new clients
Team Coordination
- Supervise machine operators and production staff, ensuring safety and productivity
- Train shop floor staff on updated SOPs and machine operations
- Report production status, issues, and improvement plans to management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Advanced Manufacturing or equivalent
- 3–4 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of laser cutting and CNC bending operations (strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD/SolidWorks or similar) for design-related tasks
- Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and SOP development
- Good communication skills for client‑facing responsibilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, hands‑on manufacturing set
