What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for the design of physical products, packaging, and UI/UX for mobile applications and other web elements, considering usability, look and feel, and manufacturing in the segments of Consumer products and medical devices. They define product architecture and features, physical workflows and user experience, design language & aesthetics, colours & materials, and product technologies. They work closely with engineers, researchers, and other technical disciplines to shape “convergent experiences” involving physical, digital, service, and brand components.

As a Lead industrial designer, you are expected to represent depth in industrial design as an individual contributor, mentor, and guide for more Senior and junior colleagues. You will often be the backbone of your projects from beginning to end. You will plan, prioritise, and deliver industrial design activities autonomously in the context of interdisciplinary projects.

You will lead client conversations within your domain, providing articulate recommendations and helping guide client choices. You will have opportunities to lead small teams on projects and contribute to business development through proposal writing and pitches.

• Plan and conduct design research focusing on product use and experience
• Analyse and test product usability, ergonomics, and workflow
• Run brainstorming sessions and design reviews
• Develop user experience scenarios and journeys integrating physical and digital interactions.
• Explore and develop aesthetic directions for individual products and cross-product design systems.
• Explore and develop ideas and concepts with hand sketching, 3D CAD, die-cut, wireframing, hand-built volumetric mock-ups, and 3D prints.
• Refine concept designs into 3D parametric CAD, including the definition of part break-up considering manufacturing and assembly
• Prepare product renderings and assets for visualisation
• Explore CMF (colour, materials, and finishes) with samples and renderings
• Create product design documentation and collaborate with the customer and 3rd-party engineering teams during development.
• Coordinate prototype supplier in the appearance model realisation
• Working collaboratively with the mechanical, electronics, and software engineering teams to ensure product manufacturability and integrity
• Mentoring the junior design staff and assisting them in understanding our process and brand
• 5-7 years of professional industrial design experience
• A university degree in Industrial Design or a related design discipline
• Highly developed design skills demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work
• Confident presentation and storytelling abilities
• Experience collaborating in multifunctional teams
• Proficiency with contemporary design tools and methods per the latest industry standards.
• Affinity with Criador's values and a passion for creating products that meet people's functional and emotional needs
• Business-level ability in English
• Experience working in a variety of organisations (start-up, corporate, agency/consultancy)
• Academic, professional, or life experience from outside the design field that enriches your perspective as a designer
