Battery & Container Design Engineering Manager โ BESS

Location: Bangalore
Job Summary:
The Battery & Container Design Engineering Manager will lead the design and development of battery packs, systems, and containerized energy storage solutions. The role includes ownership of NPI (New Product Introduction), design validation, and FAT/SAT execution, ensuring robust, compliant, and manufacturable designs for BESS and C&I applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Battery Pack & System Design
- Lead end-to-end design of battery packs, modules, and racks
- Define cell selection, configuration, protection philosophy, and electrical architecture
- Develop busbar design, interconnections, and insulation strategy
- Ensure compliance with safety and performance standards
Container & Mechanical Design
- Lead design of BESS containers (20ft / 40ft) including layout and structure
- Ensure IP rating, thermal management, and environmental compliance
- Design HVAC integration, airflow, and heat dissipation
- Coordinate fire protection and ventilation systems
NPI & Product Development
- Drive New Product Introduction (NPI) from concept to production
- Define product requirements, design validation plans, and milestones
- Ensure smooth transition from prototype to mass production
- Implement DFM/DFA practices
Testing, FAT & SAT
- Plan and oversee product validation testing (electrical, thermal, safety)
- Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
- Ensure test compliance with standards and customer requirements
- Drive closure of test observations and non-conformities
System Integration
- Integrate battery system with PCS, BMS, HVAC, and auxiliaries
- Ensure safe and optimized system layout
- Define cable routing and interconnections
Engineering Management
- Lead and mentor cross-functional engineering teams
- Conduct design reviews and approve engineering outputs
- Ensure timely project delivery
Vendor & Manufacturing Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors for components and manufacturing
- Resolve production and design issues
- Support ramp-up and production stability
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with IEC, UL, and other standards
- Approve drawings, BOMs, and technical documents
- Support certification activities
Project Coordination
- Coordinate with internal teams and customers
- Track timelines and deliverables
- Support technical discussions and project execution
Educational Qualification:
B.E / B.Tech / M.Tech in Electronic or Electrical Engineering
