Fireman / Fire & Safety Officer
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Fireman / Fire & Safety Officer to oversee all fire safety activities within our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in fire prevention, emergency response, operation of fire-fighting equipment, safety inspections, and employee fire safety training. The candidate must be capable of responding effectively to any fire emergency and ensuring full compliance with applicable fire safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure full compliance with all fire safety standards and regulations throughout the factory.
* Inspect, test, maintain, and ensure the operational readiness of all fire-fighting equipment, including fire extinguishers, hydrant systems, hose reels, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, fire alarms, and smoke detection systems.
* Respond immediately and effectively to any fire emergency and lead initial fire-fighting operations until emergency services arrive.
* Conduct routine fire safety inspections and identify potential fire hazards, ensuring timely corrective actions.
* Organize and conduct regular fire drills, emergency evacuation drills, and fire safety training for all employees.
* Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response and evacuation plans.
* Maintain accurate records of fire safety inspections, equipment maintenance, fire drills, incidents, and statutory compliance.
* Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and promote a strong safety culture throughout the factory.
* Coordinate with local Fire Department and government authorities regarding fire safety inspections, approvals, and compliance requirements.
* Investigate fire incidents and near misses, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive and corrective actions.
* Recommend and implement continuous improvements in fire prevention and emergency preparedness.
Required Skills
* Thorough knowledge of industrial fire safety practices and emergency response procedures.
* Hands-on experience in operating all types of fire-fighting equipment and systems.
* Strong understanding of fire hydrant systems, fire pumps, sprinkler systems, fire alarm panels, and smoke detection systems.
* Ability to perform fire risk assessments and hazard identification.
* Knowledge of First Aid, CPR, and emergency rescue procedures.
* Good documentation, reporting, communication, and leadership skills.
* Ability to remain calm and take prompt, effective decisions during emergencies.
Qualifications
* Diploma or Certification in Fire & Safety (Mandatory).
* Minimum 3โ5 years of experience in Industrial Fire Safety, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial facility.
* Valid First Aid and CPR certification will be an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of fire pump rooms and hydrant networks.
* Knowledge of statutory fire safety compliance, Fire NOC requirements, Factory Act, and other applicable regulations.
* Experience coordinating with government authorities and external emergency agencies.
* Willingness to work in shifts and remain available for emergency call-outs when required.
Emergency Responsibilities
* Respond immediately to any fire alarm or emergency situation.
* Operate all fire-fighting equipment safely and effectively.
* Lead the safe evacuation of employees and visitors.
* Control and contain fire incidents until the Fire Brigade arrives.
* Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures after every emergency.
The ideal candidate must possess practical knowledge of all fire safety systems and equipment, demonstrate strong emergency response capabilities, and be committed to maintaining the highest standards of fire safety and emergency preparedness within the factory.
