Motion Designer
Apparent
Job Description
Make an undeniable impact with Apparent
We’re an independent agency of 200+ thinkers, creators, and solution-makers. We exist for one reason: to give our clients a competitive edge. It’s why we’re trusted by global giants like Google and Volkswagen, alongside iconic local brands and startups.
That edge comes from the standard we set for ourselves – the craft in every detail and the thought we put into every room we enter. We don’t settle for “good enough” because we care enough to make it great. If you’re looking for a place where your craft is respected, and the ego is left at the door, you’ve found it.
We believe in high standards, but never at the expense of your life outside the office. It’s a culture our team actually advocates for; 99% of our people recommend Apparent as a great place to work.
We’re also leaning into what’s next by actively embracing AI across our roles, using it to enhance our expertise and keep both our agency and our clients at the forefront of the industry.
We have an entrepreneurial spirit and we know the best work doesn’t always fit into neat, tidy boxes. Neither should you. If you’re a pro at your craft (or looking for a mentor who is) and a genuine collaborator ready to deliver something undeniable, let’s talk.
The role
We are seeking a Motion Designer to join our talented team of animators–pushing how we approach storytelling in video, motion and animation-led projects. You’ll be part of a broader multi-disciplinary creative team of designers, writers, illustrators, UXIers, writers and art directors, being the champion of all things moving.
For us, crafting exceptional motion design is how we stand out and challenge an industry obsessed with speed/output. We refuse to compromise on quality, always striving for those butter-smooth keyframes. An absolute obsession with graph editors and keyframes is a non-negotiable requirement for this role.
A note on global flexibility: We are a truly global operation. You’ll be partnering with our Sydney crew, our offshore team in San Francisco, and our new crew in Brazil. Because of this, this role requires some non-traditional adjusted working hours. You will need the flexibility to attend occasional early morning or late evening syncs to keep our international hubs perfectly aligned.

● Work collaboratively with the design, video, and copy teams to conceptualise and execute high-quality motion design projects.
● Develop storyboards, animatics, and prototypes.
● Have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.
● Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new software, and motion design techniques.
● Action feedback and revisions based on client and team input, while maintaining design consistency and integrity.
● Participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute creative solutions to various branding challenges.
Desired Skills and Experience:
● 4-5 years of experience in motion design, animation, or a related field.
● Understanding of typography, color theory, composition, and visual storytelling.
● Experience in creating animations for various platforms, including web, social media, and video content.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
● Share a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in motion design and animation.
● Experience with video editing and sound design is a plus.
● Familiarity with design trends and the ability to adapt to different creative styles.
● Knowledge of Figma and Adobe Creative Suite - After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Cinema 4D
● Strong grasp of UI/UX workflows and Lottie Files
● We all like to dabble a bit and pick up new tools, so extra software skills (or a desire to learn them on the fly) include Cavalry, Rive, Houdini and Blender.
