Job Description

Our client is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to define and document data, system, and interface requirements across a connected product environment involving devices, software applications, and cloud-based services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyse end-to-end data flows across connected products, applications, cloud platforms, and supporting systems.
  • Translate business, product, and technical needs into clear system requirements, interface definitions, and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate workshops with engineering, product, software, cybersecurity, validation, and business stakeholders.
  • Work with technical specialists to evaluate solution options, clarify dependencies, and document agreed approaches.
  • Ensure requirements address key considerations such as security, safety, reliability, performance, and functionality.
  • Produce and maintain system documentation, including interface requirements, process flows, data definitions, and traceability records.
  • Support verification and validation teams by ensuring requirements are measurable, testable, and clearly understood.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and conflicting requirements at an early stage and coordinate appropriate resolution plans.
  • Support the planning of software, firmware, and remote product updates across connected systems.
  • Contribute to cybersecurity and connectivity discussions involving device, wireless, software, and cloud environments.
  • Maintain alignment between geographically distributed teams, external suppliers, and internal product groups.
  • Support continuous improvement of business analysis, product development, and requirements management processes.

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical business analysis, systems analysis, product development, engineering, or related role.
  • Ideally, candidates will come from an engineering, product development, systems, software, or connected-device background.
  • Experience gathering, analysing, and documenting complex business and technical requirements.
  • Strong understanding of how data moves between devices, applications, platforms, and external systems.
  • Experience working within product development environments involving software, hardware, or embedded technologies.
  • Ability to translate technical information into clear requirements for engineering, business, supplier, and validation audiences.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and achieving agreement across multidisciplinary stakeholder groups.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, collaboration, and influencing.
  • Ability to operate effectively across multiple teams without formal authority or direct line-management responsibility.
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams and external delivery partners.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methods and structured product or software development lifecycles.
  • Experience with connected products, embedded systems, IoT solutions, or cloud-integrated devices.
  • Exposure to engineering disciplines such as computer engineering, electronics, mechatronics, software engineering, or biomedical engineering.
  • Knowledge of cellular, Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi, APIs, or other system communication methods.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity requirements affecting connected products and data exchange.
  • Experience in a regulated product environment, including healthcare, life sciences, financial services, or another compliance-focused industry.
  • Familiarity with verification and validation, requirements traceability, or formal acceptance criteria.
  • Experience supporting new product development from initial concept through design, delivery, and release.
  • Knowledge of over‑the‑air software or firmware update processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to explain technical trade‑offs and their business impact.
  • A collaborative approach to challenging assumptions and improving proposed solutions.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Product Development, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A postgraduate qualification in engineering, technology, or a product‑related field would be advantageous.
  • Equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
