As the business continues to scale, we are building a best-in-class Finance function to support decision-making, performance management and strategic growth. This role is based in Cork and will have a hybrid working pattern.

About the Role

The Financial Accountant will support the Finance Manager in the day-to-day running of the finance function and the delivery of accurate, timely financial reporting. This is an ideal role for a newly qualified accountant looking to build broad commercial finance experience across month-end management accounts, operational finance, employee expenses, controls, and finance-related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and on time.
  • Prepare month-end management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with monthly reporting packs and commentary for senior stakeholders.
  • Manage and review employee expenses, ensuring compliance with company policy and timely reimbursement.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and support strong financial controls across the business.
  • Support cash flow reporting, supplier payments, customer receipts, and general ledger housekeeping as required.
  • Work with budget holders to understand costs, investigate variances, and provide practical finance support.
  • Assist with year-end preparation, audit schedules, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to finance projects, process improvements, systems enhancements, and ad hoc analysis.
  • Provide support to the wider finance team and take ownership of tasks as required in a growing business.

Qualifications

  • Newly qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of month-end processes, management accounts, reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Big 4 or similar experience an advantage.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work accurately to deadlines.
  • Confident Excel skills and comfortable working with finance systems.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Commercially aware, with a willingness to get involved in both operational finance and wider business projects.
