Senior Trust Fund Accountant
The Senior Trust Fund Accountant manages a book of trust fund clients. This role is based in McAteer’s Markham, Ontario office at 45 McIntosh Drive, Markham, ON. The office is expected to relocate to 2255 Sheppard Ave E Ste 202, North York in the fall. Upon transition the successful candidate will work from the new location.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journals and maintain up-to-date GL transactions.
- Reconcile all balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare government remittances.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare bank transfers for surplus funds.
- Reconcile investment accounts with statements from custodian/investment managers and handle investment transfers between custodian, investment managers, and the bank account of the trust fund clients.
- Prepare cash flow, investment, and other reports as required by clients.
- Prepare working papers and assist during annual audits.
- Evaluate and handle client-related inquiries.
- Handle day‑to‑day accounting duties for the clients.
- Analyze and provide feedback on financial aspects of clients.
- Review work from and give assistance to junior staff.
- Take ownership of assigned clients.
- Keep manager and others apprised of issues, status of clients, and their reporting.
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience in full‑cycle accounting, financial statement preparation and investment management.
- College or university diploma in business administration with a focus on accounting.
- CPA student or qualification is an asset.
- Excellent computer skills, including MS Office with intermediate to advanced MS Excel.
- Co‑operative team player with strong math skills and accounting knowledge.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience with Accpac/Sage is an asset.

Salary
Base salary for this position is between $68,000 and $72,000 annually. Variable compensation components such as annual bonus or commission are not included in this figure.
