Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Medical Sales Representative based in Chennai & Coimbatore. The Medical Sales Representative will be responsible for promoting and selling Contraceptive Implant to healthcare professionals, building and maintaining relationships with clients, and achieving sales targets. The role involves conducting market research, providing product information and training, addressing customer inquiries, and collaborating with internal teams to strategize and execute sales initiatives.

To create awareness, generate demand, and support implementation of contraceptive implant products through government healthcare institutions, and private gynaecology practice while ensuring achievement of business and public health objectives.

The role focuses on scientific promotion, institutional coordination, healthcare worker training, and patient awareness for long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) methods, particularly contraceptive implants.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Promotion & Product Detailing

  • Promote contraceptive implant products to: 
  • Gynaecologists 
  • Obstetricians 
  • Family planning specialists 
  • Government healthcare providers 
  • Nurses and counsellors 


  • Conduct scientific detailing on: 
  • Mechanism of action 
  • Efficacy and duration 
  • Patient selection 
  • Insertion and removal protocols 
  • Safety profile 
  • Side-effect management 
  • WHO and Government family planning guidelines 


Healthcare Worker Training

  • Organize and assist in: 
  • Clinical training programs 
  • Implant insertion/removal workshops 
  • CME programs 
  • Family planning awareness sessions 
  • Skill development programs for healthcare providers 
  • Coordinate with trainers, doctors, and institutions for successful execution of training initiatives. 


Institutional Coverage

  • Regularly visit: 
  • Private Medical colleges 
  • Private District hospitals 
  • PHCs & CHCs 
  • Urban health centres 
  • NGO clinics 
  • High-volume family planning centres 
  • Develop key relationships with institutional decision-makers and influencers. 


Demand Generation

  • Increase adoption of contraceptive implant products through: 
  • Scientific engagement 
  • Counselling support 
  • Awareness generation 
  • Institutional advocacy 
  • Identify high-potential centres for implant adoption. 
  • Support patient counselling initiatives where required. 


Sales & Business Development

  • Achieve territory sales and project objectives. 
  • Ensure adequate product placement and utilization in institutions. 
  • Monitor product consumption patterns and market opportunities. 
  • Track competitor activities and market developments in LARC products. 


Reporting & Compliance

  • Submit: 
  • Daily Call Reports (DCR) 
  • Monthly activity reports 
  • Institutional coverage reports 
  • Training program reports 
  • Sales and utilization data 
  • Maintain accurate records of: 
  • KOL engagement 
  • Project activities 
  • Institutional mapping 
  • Implant procedure centers 


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong scientific and clinical communication skills 
  • Knowledge of women’s healthcare and family planning 
  • Understanding of contraceptive implant procedures and counseling 
  • Ability to work with government and institutional stakeholders 
  • Training and presentation skills 
  • Relationship management capability

Educational Qualification

  • Graduate in Science / Pharmacy / Life Sciences 
  • B.Pharm / D.Pharm / Nursing / B.Sc preferred 
  • Public health or women’s healthcare exposure desirable 


Experience

  • 1–5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical, gynaecology, women’s healthcare, or public health project sales 
  • Experience in contraceptive, LARC, maternal health, or institutional business preferred 
  • Exposure to government tenders or public health projects will be an added advantage
