Job Description

Purpose

The Email Marketing Lead serves as a senior member of the Email Center of Excellence responsible for leading the execution of complex customer engagement and lifecycle marketing initiatives across multiple brands, business units, and communication programs. This role partners closely with stakeholders to build, review, deploy, optimize, and manage email marketing campaigns while providing guidance, leadership, and subject matter expertise to support successful campaign delivery, responsive email design, and operational excellence. The Email Marketing Lead acts as a trusted advisor and technical execution leader, helping establish best practices, improve processes, manage priorities, and drive campaign quality across the organization.

Success in this role requires advanced expertise in email marketing, lifecycle communications, responsive email design, and customer experience best practices; strong project leadership and stakeholder management skills; and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution while ensuring campaigns are optimized for usability, accessibility, and consistent performance across email clients and devices.

Responsibilities

  • Email Marketing Execution & Lifecycle Program Leadership (40%)
    • Lead the execution of complex email marketing campaigns, customer journey communications, and lifecycle marketing programs across multiple business units and stakeholder groups. Build, test, deploy, and optimize campaigns using enterprise marketing platforms and approved content creation tools. Support onboarding, engagement, retention, loyalty, and reactivation programs through effective campaign execution and customer communications. Manage high‑priority initiatives requiring advanced problem solving, coordination, and execution expertise. Ensure email creative is optimized for responsive rendering across desktop and mobile devices by applying email design best practices, including responsive layouts, spacing, content stacking, accessibility, and cross‑client compatibility.
  • Stakeholder Management & Project Leadership (25%)
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing guidance on campaign requirements, timelines, best practices, and execution approaches. Review and provide guidance on email creative to ensure designs are technically feasible, responsive, accessible, and aligned with email marketing best practices. Lead campaign planning discussions, intake meetings, project reviews, and deployment readiness activities. Manage competing priorities and complex project timelines while ensuring stakeholder expectations are effectively managed. Escalate risks, identify dependencies, and drive resolution of campaign‑related challenges.
  • Quality, Optimization & Operational Excellence (15%)
    • Ensure campaign quality through comprehensive testing, quality assurance, and review of rendering, functionality, personalization, accessibility, and responsive behavior across email clients and devices. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, campaign effectiveness, and customer experience outcomes. Support testing initiatives and optimization efforts through performance analysis and best‑practice recommendations.
  • Team Enablement & Mentorship (10%)
    • Provide guidance, coaching, and informal mentorship to Email Marketing Specialists and other team members. Share expertise, best practices, and process improvements that support team effectiveness and consistency. Assist with onboarding, training, and knowledge‑sharing activities.
  • Reporting, Insights & Continuous Improvement (10%)
    • Monitor campaign performance and provide insights that support stakeholder decision‑making. Analyze trends and identify opportunities for engagement improvements and operational enhancements. Stay current on industry trends, platform capabilities, and emerging email marketing best practices.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Digital Marketing, or a related field; or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Previous Experience
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, CRM marketing, digital marketing, or related disciplines. Experience managing complex marketing campaigns and customer engagement programs across multiple stakeholders or business units. Experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Salesforce Account Engagement (Pardot), or similar enterprise marketing platforms. Experience leading projects, facilitating meetings, and coordinating cross‑functional initiatives. Experience executing, testing, deploying, and optimizing complex email marketing campaigns.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Advanced knowledge of email marketing best practices, customer engagement principles, lifecycle marketing concepts, and campaign management methodologies. Strong understanding of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, email production workflows, audience segmentation, personalization, and reporting capabilities. Strong understanding of responsive email design, user experience, accessibility, mobile optimization, and cross‑client rendering, with the ability to review and provide guidance on email creative. Experience using Knak, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Litmus, or similar email production and collaboration tools to design, review, test, or optimize email campaigns. Strong project management, prioritization, stakeholder management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills. Strong quality assurance capabilities with experience reviewing rendering, functionality, personalization, responsive behavior, and accessibility across email clients and devices. Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment without direct authority.
  • Other Requirements
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound decisions within established guidelines. Ability to support occasional meetings outside of standard business hours when required.
