Location: New Westminster, BC, Hybrid, minimum 40% in office per week Language: Strong written and spoken English communication required Duration: 6-month full-time contract, with possible extension Background Check Requirement: Not specified About the Opportunity A large public sector organization is seeking an IT Operations Manager to support the delivery of reliable, scalable, and business-aligned technology services across a complex enterprise environment. In this contract role, you’ll work closely with technical teams, project teams, business stakeholders, service providers, and senior leaders to strengthen IT operations, improve service delivery, and support ongoing transformation toward a more modern, DevOps-oriented culture. Your Responsibilities Manage IT operations across cloud, data centre, network, and storage environments to support performance, reliability, and service continuity. Align infrastructure operations with enterprise strategy, helping resolve system issues, improve controls, and manage operational risks.
Support infrastructure strategy and roadmap planning while leading cross-functional teams through full lifecycle service delivery. Oversee vendor performance, contracts, budgets, forecasting, and cost optimization activities. Build strong relationships with business leaders to identify value-driven technology opportunities and support innovation.
Contribute to governance, reporting, standards, performance metrics, and senior leadership presentations. Lead and support IT team management, including coaching, development, performance management, and resource planning. Skills and Qualifications 8+ years of IT transformation experience, including 4+ years in a management capacity.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Strong knowledge of IT service delivery, infrastructure operations, cloud, data centre, network, and storage environments. Experience managing budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, vendor contracts, SLAs, SLIs, and performance outcomes.
Strong governance, risk management, reporting, documentation, analytical, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Visio, Microsoft Project Online, SharePoint, and OneDrive. Public sector or unionized environment experience is considered an asset.
