The Opportunity The Marda Loop Communities Association (MLCA) is seeking an experienced and community‑focused General Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of our organization, facilities, staff, and programs. This leadership role works closely with the Board of Directors to support strategic priorities, community engagement, and operational excellence. The General Manager is a full‑time employee position that serves as the key liaison between the Board, staff, volunteers, and community members while ensuring the successful delivery of programs, services, and facility operations. Key Duties & Responsibilities Leadership & Operations Collaborate with the Board to develop and implement strategic and operational plans in alignment with the MLCA Vision and Mission Act as an advisor to the Board on all aspects of the association’s activities; identify, assess, and inform the Board of internal and external issues that affect the Association Oversee the daily operations of the MLCA facilities, staff, and community programs Represent the MLCA at community activities to enhance the organization’s community profile Provide leadership and guidance to staff, volunteers, and contractors Ensure organizational policies and procedures are up to date and adhered to, and that privacy standards are followed Prepare monthly reports and attend Board and Executive meetings Program & Community Management Plan, organize, promote, and evaluate community programs and events Oversee the MLCA Preschool program operations and staff, in partnership with the Preschool Director Identify opportunities for new programs and community initiatives Administer the MLCA Sponsorship Program, ensuring accurate record keeping and that sponsor obligations are delivered Respond to community members’ concerns and questions, whether in person walk‑in, by email, or by telephone, in a timely manner Maintain positive relationships with hall renters, community stakeholders, schools, City representatives, and local organizations Support marketing initiatives, website updates, newsletters, and social media communications Human Resources Management & Financial Oversight Determine staffing requirements for organizational operations and program delivery Recruit, supervise, mentor, and support staff and program leaders Develop and manage annual operating and program budgets Work collaboratively with the Bookkeeper to ensure financial compliance and reporting Support grant applications, sponsorship administration, and organizational record keeping Facility & Risk Management Assist with facility maintenance planning and vendor coordination Help oversee building systems, equipment maintenance, and safety requirements Support organizational risk management and insurance oversight Position Qualifications About You… You are an experienced and collaborative leader who thrives in a community environment. You bring strong problem‑solving skills, sound judgment, and a passion for creating positive community experiences through effective leadership and service delivery. Required Skills & Experience Post‑secondary education in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in a non‑profit, recreation, or community‑based organization Demonstrated strategic leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills Experience in operations, budgeting, staff supervision, and program management Demonstrated success in securing grants and managing the grant application process Knowledge of Human Resources and non‑profit governance best practices Solid financial and business acumen, including working P&L knowledge and experience managing budgetary constraints Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, online systems, and social media platforms Ability to work independently while building collaborative relationships Valid driver’s license required Current First Aid/CPR certification required Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check required Compensation The General Manager is a salaried position with the rate of pay based upon experience. Vacation entitlement for the GM is three weeks annually, and the position is eligible to receive the MLCA health benefits package.
