About the Role
The Digital and Growth Marketing Lead leads St John NSW's day-to-day digital growth engine, spanning performance marketing, website and digital experience, and lifecycle support, working under the strategic direction of the GM Marketing & Communications.
This is a builder's role, not a business-as-usual role. You have a blank sheet of paper to build the commercial engine of St John NSW's marketing, and you're genuinely expert in the channels you lead. You know paid campaigns and social down to the technicality of platform algorithms, you're technically fluent in CRM, and you stay switched on to what's changing in web and search, including AEO.
You're also fluent in using AI to speed up research, content, campaign build and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and run an always-on, campaign-based performance marketing engine across SEM, AEO, SEO and paid advertising (Google, Meta, LinkedIn and other paid channels).
Deliver commercial growth across St John NSW's major revenue streams, from new product launches to premium training sales with campaigns tailored to both B2B and B2C audiences.
Build strong B2B marketing capability; LinkedIn experience is critical given the weight of St John NSW's commercial, corporate and training audiences.
Lead website strategy, optimisation and continuous improvement, driving measurable uplift in traffic, conversion and revenue.
Partner with the Data team and Business Analyst to drive the organisation's data maturity and integration goals.
Support the development of St John NSW's customer communications strategy, partnering with the Sales and Training teams to align lifecycle comms with the customer journey.
Plan and execute email marketing and end-to-end customer journey mapping.
Manage and maintain the approved budget.
Manage external suppliers and contracts so the best overall cost and value is achieved.
Relevant experience and/or tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business or Communications.
4+ years' experience in performance and digital marketing, ideally spanning both B2B and B2C however B2B is critical, with hands‑on experience running LinkedIn campaigns.
Deep, hands‑on technical knowledge of paid campaigns and social platforms including how platform algorithms work — proficient to either manage an agency or build and run campaigns in-house.
Proven experience running always‑on and campaign‑based SEM, SEO, AEO and paid advertising that delivers measurable commercial results.
Tech‑savvy across CRM and marketing automation platforms, comfortable in the technical detail rather than just the strategy; Dynamics 365 experience highly desirable.
Stays current on the fast‑moving web and search landscape, including SEO, AEO and emerging search behaviours.
Experience with website optimisation, conversion rate improvement and working alongside data or analytics teams to lift data maturity and integration.
Strong understanding of data‑driven marketing and customer engagement principles.
Ability to plan and execute email marketing and end‑to‑end customer journey mapping.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enable engagement and buy‑in from stakeholders.
Ability to think creatively and commercially, and to work effectively within a commercial, not‑for‑profit environment.
AI‑fluent, with genuine enthusiasm for using AI tools across research, content, campaign build and reporting.
