Role Description
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing end-to-end accounting and tax compliance for a portfolio of clients, including the preparation and review of financial statements, income tax returns, BAS, and other statutory reports. This full-time, on-site role in Sydney, NSW involves providing tax advice, supporting clients with structuring decisions, and assisting with complex matters such as mergers, acquisitions, and investment strategies. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing general ledger reconciliations, maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring cash flow and budgets, and ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards and tax regulations.
The Senior Accountant will mentor junior team members, collaborate with partners on advisory projects, and support process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Qualifications
- Strong technical accounting skills, including financial statement preparation, general ledger management, reconciliations, and familiarity with Australian accounting standards.
- Demonstrated tax expertise, with experience in individual, business, trust, and corporate tax compliance, BAS preparation, and tax advisory for investments, mergers, and acquisitions.
- Proficiency with accounting and tax software, spreadsheets, and related digital tools to manage client files, reporting, and workflow efficiently.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
- Strong communication and client service skills, including the ability to explain complex tax and accounting concepts in accessible terms and build long-term client relationships.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CA/CPA or working towards such designation is highly regarded.
- Experience in public practice or professional services, ideally working with a varied client base (individuals, SMEs, trusts, and private companies).
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in an on-site environment.
