ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Design Engineer to execute the full design process from concept through to production release. The role covers new product design as well as the improvement and customization of existing machines, and includes 3D modelling, detailing, engineering calculations, BOM preparation, and prototype support. The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, and Service teams to ensure that designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and reliable in the field.

Products mainly Textile Printing Solutions – Digital, Flatbed, and Rotary as well as Stenters.

Reports To: Managing Director / Senior General Manager / Product Head / Design Head

Works in Coordination With: Design Head, Production, Procurement, Quality, and Service teams

Key Responsibilities

Design & Development

·       Prepare 3D models, assemblies, and detailed manufacturing drawings for new and existing machinery

·       Execute design concepts from ideation through to production release under the direction of the Design Head

·       Carry out engineering calculations covering strength, stress, power transmission, drive selection, and component sizing

·       Update and maintain existing designs to incorporate improvements, customer customizations, and field feedback

·       Apply GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and fits and clearances correctly on all released drawings

·       Select standard parts, bought-out components, and materials in coordination with Procurement

Documentation & Data Control

·       Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM), part lists, design calculations, and technical specifications

·       Maintain drawing revision control and process engineering change requests and notes (ECR/ECN)

·       Keep CAD and PDM data accurate, correctly named, and properly filed

·       Support preparation of installation, operation, and maintenance manuals

Cross-Functional & Shop Floor Support

·       Coordinate with Production and Assembly to resolve technical queries and manufacturing difficulties

·       Support prototype build, trial runs, testing, and performance evaluation

·       Assist Quality with inspection requirements, first article inspection, and resolution of non-conformances

·       Provide technical support to Sales and Service for customer enquiries, customization requests, and field issues

Project & Improvement

·       Manage multiple design projects simultaneously and complete them within agreed budget and timelines

·       Contribute to design reviews, DFMEA, and value engineering exercises

·       Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost, improve manufacturability, and increase reliability

Key Deliverables

·       Accurate, production-ready drawings and 3D models released on schedule

·       Complete and error-free BOMs and engineering documentation

·       Reduced design-related rework, rejection, and assembly issues

·       Timely resolution of technical queries raised by Production and Service

·       Effective revision control and CAD data integrity

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications & Skills

·       B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, or a Diploma with equivalent relevant experience

·       2 to 5 years of experience in machine design within machinery manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy engineering (adjust to your preferred band)

·       Proficiency in Solid Edge; working knowledge of other CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or AutoCAD is an advantage

·       Sound ability to read, interpret, and prepare engineering drawings with GD&T

·       Understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, and assembly

·       Working knowledge of mechanical elements such as gears, bearings, shafts, drives, pneumatics, and fasteners

·       Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

·       Good written and verbal communication skills

·       Proficiency in MS Office
