Job Description
Role Title: Sales Head โ Eastern India (Bihar, Jharkhand, UP) Location: Samastipur, Bihar (with regular travel across Bihar, Jharkhand, and UP) Reports To: Senior Management / Directors Team Oversight: Regional Sales Managers across various animal feed product lines, and their respective Area Sales Managers/Sales Officers Role Summary The selected candidate will drive sales growth through indirect channels across Eastern India, with effective management of distributors, dealers, sub-dealers, and the field sales team. A key focus area is dealer conversion โ identifying, evaluating, and converting prospective dealers into active, productive channel partners, and resolving the technical/operational barriers that typically stall this process. Experience Required 15+ years of sales experience, preferably in the Animal Feed industry (a strong plus); candidates from Agri-business or F&B with transferable channel/distributor experience will also be considered.
Prior experience in a Regional sales leadership role is essential. Demonstrated track record of dealer/distributor network expansion and conversion in rural or semi-urban markets. Key Responsibilities 1.
Sales & Business Development Achieve zonal sales targets (volume, value, and profitability) through effective distributor management and channel execution. Develop and implement sales plans, trade schemes, and promotional activities to maximize market potential. 2. Distributor & Dealer Management Appoint, onboard, and develop distributors and dealers in line with business objectives.
Drive dealer conversion by identifying technical, financial, or operational bottlenecks (e.g., credit terms, product handling/storage requirements, margins, logistics) and working cross-functionally to resolve them. Ensure distributor ROI and operational efficiency through regular performance reviews. Monitor stock levels, credit limits, secondary sales, and claims management.
Strengthen relationships with key distributors and channel partners. 3. Channel & Market Expansion Identify and penetrate new markets and channels (including HORECA, where applicable). Ensure adequate infrastructure, manpower, and service levels at distributor/dealer points.
Monitor channel hygiene, compliance, and adherence to company policies. 4. Team Leadership & Performance Management Lead, motivate, and mentor Regional Sales Managers (across animal feed product lines) and their teams of Area Sales Managers/Sales Officers. Build high-performing teams by setting clear KPIs, reviewing performance, and providing regular feedback.
Drive training and capability-building programs, particularly around dealer conversion techniques and product knowledge. Support succession planning and manage attrition within the regional sales structure. 5. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination Liaise closely with Senior Management and Directors on zonal strategy, market intelligence, and performance reporting.
Coordinate with supply chain, finance, and technical/product teams to resolve dealer-side issues affecting conversion and retention.
