Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
- The Country Manager's role is primarily commercial, and is accountable for the overall business development of Benefit in Brazil.
- Key KPI: Total P&L Management from topline to bottom line — Retail Sales, Net Sales, and OP for the total market, across both the Product and Brow Bar Services revenue streams and across B&M and Digital channels.
- To grow the business while adhering to the Benefit business model, and as aligned to LATAM and global priorities.
- To maximize all retail opportunities and further facilitate continuous business expansion and improvement with Sephora and other key retail partners.
- Key point of contact for all local external vendors and partners.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Retail / Net Sales
- Build up annual Retail / Net Sales targets during budget planning
- Monitor and analyze weekly / monthly / quarterly retail and net sales to ensure actuals are in line with forecasts, reporting vs. LY and vs. budget revision
- Analyze new product sales, distinguishing Launch vs. Core, and ensure all opportunities are being maximized
- Ensure inventory is in line with industry standards to keep alignment between retail sell-out and shipments to retailers
- Propose a winning strategy vs. competition, informed by a strong understanding of beauty marketing campaign execution and retail execution in-store and online
Forecasting / Budget
- Build monthly sales and profit forecasts based on actuals, updating for proposed new stores/doors
- Build the annual budget and revision budgets (R1, R2, Full BUD) throughout the year
- Allocate resources within budget parameters and in line with actual sales trends to protect the bottom line, focusing headcount and other investments on sell-out
- Continually review the P&L — distinguishing Product vs. Service and B&M vs. Digital — ensuring it stays in line with agreed Net Sales and Operating Profit objectives, and maintaining healthy NS percentages across Distribution, Marketing and G&A
People / Management
- Ensure the right person is recruited into the right role, according to budget and business needs
- Together with the Training and Sales team, constantly motivate and lead the field force, closely managing their performance and productivity
- Ensure all employees are managed in line with company expectations and standards, with up-to-date job descriptions, clear objectives and annual appraisals
- Recruit, develop and retain office and retail teams, ensuring they have the tools to do the job (annual performance process, coaching, career development initiatives)
- Ensure all employees are managed within the proper legal framework
New Store Openings
- Constantly seek new opportunities to develop the brand's ranking, visibility, or image
- Assist in commercial negotiations, including cost share & FTE, counter space, location, and number of new door openings
- Liaise with Marketing, Visual Merchandising and Operations to ensure all new stores are properly supported
- Adhere to the proper CAPEX approval process in a timely manner
- Identify and assess new distribution opportunities, both in-store and online
Marketing / Merchandising
- Together with the local marketing team, and in close collaboration with the Global Marketing team, create and execute a marketing plan based on key priorities and new launches across all retailers
- Focus on developing a strong digital media strategy, applying working knowledge of digital and performance marketing
- Protect Benefit's brand equity by ensuring global visual guidelines are adhered to at all times and reflected in all doors — in-store and online
- Ensure marketing priorities are given proper focus and meet objectives, tracking campaign performance (SOB, digital KPIs, conversion, sell-through)
- Build a data-driven understanding of the Brazilian beauty consumer, adapting global campaigns to local specificities rather than assuming 1:1 translation
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years' commercial retail experience, ideally in beauty, cosmetics, or premium consumer goods
- Strong management skills; experience leading teams (marketing, retail/field, or commercial)
- Excellent commercial awareness and business acumen
- Strong finance and analytical skills — comfortable managing a P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and margin analysis
- Strong understanding of beauty marketing campaign execution, from local adaptation through activation and performance tracking
- Strong command of retail execution, both in-store (VM, assortment, staff readiness) and online (e-commerce, marketplaces, digital merchandising)
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills, particularly with retail/wholesale partners
- Works well under pressure, with a strong sense of urgency and adherence to deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving / analytical skills
- Good attention to detail
- Good planning & organization skills
- Fluent in Portuguese and English MANDATORY
- Travel required — 30-40%
