Job Description

Senior Financial Analyst – Corporate Finance and Control Location: Ottawa, Ontario (Hybrid; 2–3 days in office per week; relocation assistance available for eligible candidates). Responsibilities Reach beyond received data to review and analyze results, ensuring financial reporting requirements are met. Link financial results to underlying business, portfolio structures, and economic drivers.

Identify opportunities to enhance data definitions and structures for improved accuracy and understanding of financial insights. Drive continuous improvement by challenging processes, collaborating across teams, and leveraging technology and data. Explain complex issues in a manner that fosters mutual respect; prepare communications and presentations for senior leadership.

Provide insights for financial and non‑financial stakeholders through variance analysis, forecasting, and long‑range planning. Prepare financial statements, notes, and reports in accordance with IFRS; approve journal entries and reconciliations. Participate in system implementation or enhancement projects, including consulting and recommending reporting requirements.

Research and interpret new accounting standards/guidelines to assess impact on financial reporting. Provide advice on internal control issues and implement reporting enhancements. Perform general accounting activities and maintain accounting and financial records and reports.

Ensure all reports and disclosures comply with government regulations, professional standards, and organization policies. Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline. Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) or equivalent.

Minimum 7 years of experience in business, accounting, and/or financial analysis. Experience working with large, complex databases. Advanced knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, and DAX.

Advanced knowledge of IFRS, accounting, and financial analysis principles and practices. Excellent MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills. Preferred Attributes Bilingual in French and English.

Advanced knowledge of IFRS 9 and IFRS 13. Experience auditing financial transactions. Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience with queries, report writing, data visualization, and presenting results using MS PowerPoint. Eligibility & Employment Equity EDC is committed to fair employment practices.
