Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records.
  • Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing.
  • Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss reports.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Code invoices and ensure payments are charged to the correct accounts.
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, deposits, payroll accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Assist with customer account follow‑up and collections.
  • Help prepare tax forms and required financial documentation.
  • Assist with audits by gathering reports, account information, and supporting documents.
  • Work with department managers and leadership to provide financial information and support cost‑control efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge of accounting practices, company procedures, and accounting software systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary education, with a preference for a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 3–4+ years of related accounting experience.
  • Leadership experience is a must.
  • Experience in HVAC, industrial refrigeration, construction, mechanical services, job costing, or project‑based accounting is a plus.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong math, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of general accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
  • Dependable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently or with a team.
  • An upbeat, team‑first attitude.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and Manitoba tax legislation as it relates to business operations, including GST, PST, payroll remittances, and regulatory compliance.
