Job Description1649 - Driver Clerk Dublin(NBC) Post 1649 - Driver Clerk DEPARTMENT Full Time - Permanent National Blood Centre, Dublin The IBTS is currently recruiting a full-time, permanent, Driver Clerk based in the Transport Department, National Blood Centre. The primary function of the Driver Clerk role is to partake in the Blood Collection Process as directed by the Irish Blood Transfusion Service from clinics nationally as part of the National Transport Department operating from the National Blood Centre. The role encompasses all aspects associated with being a professional driver; undertaking duties with due care and diligence as they pertain to driving and all associated duties including daily inspections and recording of same as set out by the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.
The role also requires a comprehensive understanding of the cross functional approach and the associated duties required by the Driver Clerk to service the national collection requirements - which operate in a Good Manufacturing (GMP) / Good Distribution (GDP) environment. A key requirement of the Driver Clerk role encompasses registering Donors and fully participating in the blood collection process as part of the Clinic Collection Team. The role of Driver Clerk has a dual reporting Line Manager structure in that the Driver Clerk report to both the National Transport Manager / designee and the CNM (Clinical Nurse Manager) / designee depending on the assigned duty.
The Driver Clerk role encompasses cross functionality i.e. Driving and Clerical duties. The Driver Clerk role is to register Donors at clinic and participate in the full collection process under the direction of the CNM / designee.
As part of the collection team the Driver Clerk will report to the CNM / designee for all clinic related matters. The Driver Clerk will report to the National Transport Manager (as Line Manager) / designee for all Transport and general operational matters. Essential Criteria: A current clean Full Driving Licence in ALL the following categories plus CPC / Tachograph: o Full category B (Car/Van). o Full category C (Truck >7500 KG). o Full category D (Bus > 16 passengers). o Up-to-date driver CPC and Tachograph Driver Card.
Driving Experience of ALL vehicle categories outlined above. Full flexibility and availability to work away from base / home during the week / year. Full flexibility and availability to work variable hours during the week / year.
Full flexibility and availability on location - travel within Ireland is part of this role. Clerical experience proficient in MS products or equivalent. Good oral and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills. Desirable Criteria: FETAC Qualification Familiarity of working in Quality management Environment. Leaving Certificate standard or Equivalent Good IT Skills.
The salary scale attached to the post is the Driver Clerk scale โฌ38,764 to โฌ55,154 (incl. LSI) pro rata per annum. Entry point onto the salary scale is dependent upon relevant experience.
