The opportunity We’re looking for Associate Managers with 6–8 years of experience in M&A life cycle, carve-out / integration of a business post-announcement of transaction, cross-border M&A who specialize in top-down synergy assessments, bottom-up synergy build, cost to achieve synergies, synergy monitoring and tracking. Your key responsibilities Synergy Modeling: Develop and implement synergy models for revenue growth, cost optimization, and operational efficiency during integration and transformation projects. Opportunity Assessment: Identify and validate synergy opportunities across functions (, procurement, supply chain, IT, HR, sales) using benchmarks and industry data for headcount, non-headcount (materials, services, facilities) synergies.
Financial Analysis: Quantify synergy benefits and create detailed financial models to support integration planning and execution. Functional Benchmarking: Leverage internal and external data sources to establish synergy benchmarks and best practices. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with Finance, Operations, and Business Units to ensure synergy targets are realistic and achievable.
Risk & Dependency Analysis: Uncover potential risks, dependencies, and constraints that could impact synergy realization. Tracking & Reporting: Design and implement synergy tracking dashboards and governance mechanisms to monitor progress and report to leadership. Global Collaboration: Build strong relationships with EY offices worldwide, sharing insights and aligning on regional practices.
Business Development: Support proposals and client pitches by providing expertise in synergy modeling and integration strategies. Team Leadership: Mentor junior professionals, conduct performance reviews, and foster capability development within the CoE. AI Adoption: Leverage AI‑enabled tools to support data analysis, benchmarking, and synthesis of insights for synergy assessments, financial models, and integration planning.
Skills and attributes for success Good understanding of M&A life cycle, carve-out / integration of a business post-announcement of transaction, cross-border M&A Possess financial analysis experience from a number of pre- and post-deal transactions, with the ability to link detailed operational analysis to P&L, cash flow and balance sheet Understanding of corporate allocations and methodology to replace allocated costs Understanding of scoping standalone costs and entanglements and defining baseline costs Skill to synthesize approaches to complex carve-out and integration conflicts Talent to adapt to new challenges and ideas Excellent problem solving, project management, facilitation and interpersonal skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong executive presence with good networking and negotiation sills Working knowledge of AI concepts and AI-enabled tools, with the ability to apply them appropriately in consulting workflows such as data analysis, benchmarking, and documentation.
