Supermarket Department Manager

About the role

As a Department Manager, you will report directly to the Store Manager and be responsible for overseeing the efficient day to day operation of the Deli & Bakery Department at our Windmill Hill Store in Tamworth NSW.

Key responsibilities

• Manage team members to ensure the delivery of a high level of customer service and department presentation
• Generate enthusiasm within the team by mentoring and sharing knowledge
• Manage and ensure that all WHS and Food Safety standards are maintained
• Monitor and manage quality, wastage and shrinkage in a compliant and proactive manner
• Permanent full time position
• Competitive salary (based on above award hourly rate plus penalty rates)

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as deli manager (or similar) in a supermarket environment
• Working knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards
• Knowledge of scales, weights measures and tares to accurately weigh products
• Experience with managing supplier relationships
• Proficiency with inventory management systems
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team to achieve goals
• Experience in sustainably managing rosters and wages
• Proactive, hands‑on approach with a strong work ethic
• Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends
• Ability to lift medium to heavy weights for period of time
• Police Clearance, current within 3 months (or willingness to obtain)
• Full Australian Working Rights
• Desirable: Food Safety Certificate
