Job Description
We're looking for a Lead Web Developer to guide the design, development, and delivery of our web applications while mentoring a team of engineers. This role blends hands‑on technical work with technical leadership — you'll set coding standards, make architectural decisions, and help junior and mid-level developers grow, while still writing production code yourself.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance web applications (front-end and back-end)
- Own technical architecture decisions and ensure alignment with broader engineering strategy
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and enforce coding standards through code reviews
- Mentor and coach developers on the team; support their technical growth
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and QA to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Break down complex projects into manageable tasks and help plan sprints/releases
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and scalability issues
- Drive adoption of best practices: CI/CD, automated testing, version control workflows
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and technologies
- Troubleshoot production issues and lead incident response when needed
- Contribute to technical documentation and onboarding materials
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional web development experience, including 2+ years in a lead or senior technical role
- Solid back-end experience (Node.js, Python, .NET, Java, or similar)
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
- Strong understanding of RESTful API design; experience with GraphQL a plus
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong grasp of web performance, accessibility, and security best practices
- Excellent communication skills and experience working cross-functionally
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with microservices architecture
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Prior experience leading a team of 3+ developers
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright)
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools or integrating AI/LLM features into products
