Job Summary
The Senior Project Manager leads and oversees delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives, acting as both a hands-on program leader and a people manager for a team of Project Managers. This role is accountable for executive stakeholder alignment, on-time and on-budget delivery across teams, governance and audit readiness, and the coaching and development of project management talent. The Senior Project Manager also champions continuous improvement and innovation in how projects and programs are delivered.
Key Responsibilities
Customer โ Build Executive-Level Stakeholder Alignment
Align key stakeholders around strategic objectives, scope, and delivery plans.
- Hold quarterly stakeholder alignment sessions
- Track executive feedback on alignment
- Minimize escalations through early engagement
- Document decisions in a central location
Business Delivery โ Drive Timely and Quality Project Delivery Across Teams
Oversee multiple initiatives, ensuring coordinated, high-quality, on-time delivery.
- Deliver 90%+ of managed projects on time
- Keep cross-project issues under 5% unresolved
- Maintain RAID logs for all programs
- Track and report status to governance forums
Organization โ Champion Governance, Compliance, and Risk Mitigation
Ensure consistent use of delivery standards, risk controls, and audit readiness across all projects.
- Conduct quarterly compliance/governance reviews
- Maintain documentation per PMO standards
- Achieve zero major compliance misses or audit flags
- Promote use of approved templates and tools
People โ Coach and Develop Project Management Talent
Grow the skills and confidence of Project Managers through structured coaching and support.
- Conduct monthly 1:1s with direct reports
- Create and monitor Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
- Track team training completion rates (target: 100%)
- Provide regular feedback and recognition
Finance โ Optimize Program Budgets and Resource Allocation
Oversee the overall financial health of projects and programs to ensure value delivery.
- Track budgets quarterly with <10% variance
- Identify and implement 2+ cost optimization initiatives annually
- Maintain 95%+ forecast accuracy
- Provide financial reporting to leadership
Innovation โ Lead Change and Innovation Across Programs
Drive adoption of new tools, methods, or practices that enhance project execution.
- Launch or lead at least one innovation initiative annually
- Share learnings through internal forums or sessions
- Monitor ROI or impact of innovations
- Support pilot implementation of new PM practices
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or a related field; PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, SAFe Program Consultant, or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
- 10+ years of project/program management experience, including experience managing multiple concurrent initiatives
- 2+ years of people management or team leadership experience
- Proven track record of executive stakeholder engagement and governance/audit readiness
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing program-level budgets and forecasts
- Experience driving process improvement or innovation initiatives within a PMO or delivery function
- Hands-on proficiency with project management tools (JIRA, MS Project, Asana, Trello)
- Experience managing internal and external vendor relationships as part of program delivery
