What will the designer be working on?

  • The designer will shape the client acquisition experience on the Consumer Banking Mega Journey.
  • Working with a cross-functional team and stakeholders, they will define both how the experience works and how it looks and feels to meet business objectives.
  • This is a hybrid role, so the designer moves comfortably between interaction design (flows, structure, behavior) and visual design (hierarchy, layout, polish).

What are the main responsibilities of the role?

  • The designer is a hybrid Interaction/Visual Designer in a 4-person squad (Interaction Designer, Visual Designer, Content Designer, Design Researcher), led by a Design Lead.
  • They work daily with cross-functional partners: product managers, project managers, business analysts, developers, and QA.
  • They own both the interaction logic and the visual quality of the work, produce solutions at the right fidelity for each audience, and bring their design direction to the squad.

What capabilities makes the designer you’re replacing (or current designers on your team) successful?

  • A curious, strategic, and collaborative team member with an open mindset. A natural leader who sparks design conversation by inviting and acting on feedback.
  • A self-starter with solid time management and presentation skills.
  • A strong hybrid designer who thinks in interaction and visual terms at once, lives and breathes mobile-first, and is comfortable across multiple projects.
  • They inform their designs and validate their hypotheses through testing, deliver in various fidelities to communicate to the team and stakeholders, and offer clear direction and expertise to cross-functional partners throughout.

What does the future state of success look like for the new designer?

  • Has adapted to our ways of working within about 3 months.
  • Plans work and delivers against tight timelines. Has deep knowledge of the app's design system and patterns, and applies it across both interaction and visual work.
  • Collaborates daily with the squad, is self-motivated and self-sufficient, and knows how to succeed in a larger team with multiple cross-functional partners.
  • Spots opportunities to improve how the team works and contributes to them with energy.

What are the must have skills?

  • Advanced digital product design across both interaction and visual design, for responsive web and native apps
  • Strong visual craft: typography, visual hierarchy, layout, and concepting
  • Experience designing with, and contributing to, complex design systems
  • Lean UX within Agile dev teams
  • Usability research and testing to validate solutions

Nice to have skills:

  • Has worked with large design teams and multiple stakeholders (product, business, technical)
  • Experience creating user journeys, wireframes, and information architecture
  • Advanced Figma experience
