Compliance Manager - Sanctions

A leading global container shipping and logistics group is hiring a Manager, Compliance to join a lean, high-impact global compliance function based out of Mumbai.

About the Role

\n

This is a hands-on, senior compliance position reporting to the Head of Compliance (based in Singapore). You will lead a small team of sanctions analysts in India while owning a mix of hands-on sanctions screening and broader compliance advisory work across the group.

• Directly lead 2-3 Sanctions Screening Analysts based in India
\n

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

Sanctions & Screening (~50%)

\n

\n
• Own Level 2 sanctions screening escalations and reviews, including Sanctioned Controlled Ownership (SCO) assessments
\n
• Serve as the primary advisor on sanctions-related matters, partnering with Commercial, Operations and Finance teams to embed robust screening processes, particularly in sensitive jurisdictions and for new customer/partner onboarding
\n

Broader Compliance (~50%)

\n

\n
• Support Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABAC), trade compliance, ethics and business integrity, and competition law compliance across the group
\n
• Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of compliance policies and controls, with particular focus on ABAC, conflicts of interest and sanctions programs
\n
• Track and interpret regulatory developments globally (trade sanctions, anti-corruption laws), translating them into clear, actionable guidance for the business
\n
• Assist with investigations into potential compliance incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective measures
\n
• Design and deliver compliance training across the organisation, building a proactive compliance culture
\n

Candidate Profile

\n

\n
• 5-8 years of experience in compliance, with meaningful depth in sanctions and ABAC
\n
• Industry background in shipping preferred but not required; candidates from banking or BPO/shared-services compliance backgrounds are also encouraged to apply
\n
• Bachelor's degree required; a law degree (LLB) is not mandatory
\n
• Sanctions certification is a plus
\n
• Strong sense of integrity, ownership and the ability to mentor junior team members
