Recycling & Recovery Compliance Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Recycling & Recovery Operations / Compliance Manager to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with strong experience within the recycling, waste management or resource recovery sector who is confident managing relationships across a wide range of industry stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of recycling and recovery operations, together with excellent stakeholder management, analytical and communication skills.

The Role:

• Manage relationships with recycling and recovery operators and support ongoing operational performance and improvement.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with waste management companies, recyclers, processors, brokers and other key industry stakeholders.
• Apply strong industry knowledge to support operational decision‑making, compliance and best practice.
• Undertake site visits, operational reviews, audits and waste characterisation studies.
• Review and verify recycling and recovery claims, ensuring supporting documentation is accurate and complete.
• Monitor operational and compliance performance across assigned operators and accounts.
• Maintain accurate operational databases, reporting systems and dashboards.
• Support contract compliance audits and follow up on any issues identified.
• Work closely with internal teams including Finance and Operations on forecasting, budgeting, reporting and compliance matters.
• Support compliance reviews involving recycling and recovery brokers and national and international destinations.
• Prepare reports, presentations and papers for internal and external stakeholders and working groups.
• Represent the organisation professionally at industry meetings, conferences and stakeholder events.
• Keep up to date with developments across the recycling, recovery and wider waste management sector.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and wider operational projects as required.

The Candidate:

• Significant experience working within the recycling, waste management, resource recovery, environmental services or circular economy sector.
• Strong understanding of recycling, recovery, waste collection, treatment and processing operations.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels.
• Experience dealing with waste operators, recyclers, processors, brokers, facilities or other industry stakeholders.
• Experience conducting site visits, audits, compliance assessments or operational reviews.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple relationships, priorities and operational requirements.
• Good understanding of industry trends, recycling technologies and developments within the waste and resource recovery sector.
• Knowledge of Irish and European waste legislation, EPR or environmental compliance would be advantageous.
• Experience of waste characterisation studies or environmental auditing would be an advantage.
• Relevant qualification in Environmental Science, Waste Management, Engineering, Sustainability or a related discipline would be advantageous.
• Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel throughout Ireland.
