Job Description
Data Modeller and Analyst
Required Capabilities
o Conceptual,logical (Entity Relationship) and physical data modelling.
o Data modelsreview with both IT and business audiences, communicating how the model meetsrequirements of both existing projects and the overall informationarchitecture and strategy and any relevant deficiencies and gaps.
o UMLmodelling using all of the following:
Componentand package diagrams
Analyse andtranslate current application and data landscapes and future businessrequirements into detailed logical data models.
Strongmetadata management (technical and business), incorporating metadatapractices into all modelling activities.
o Analysis ofsource system including database structures, semi-structured and unstructureddata stores.
o Understanding and assessment of source system schemas; table structures andrelationships, primary / foreign keys, indexing, etc.
o Determiningreference data domains and ranges and relationship to transactional data.
Data mappingand transformation
o Mapping ofsource data elements to target models and data schemas using detailed logicaldata models.
o Ability towork with source system SMEs to determine correct mappings, transformationsand gaps.
o Analysis anddocumentation of source to target data lineage.
DataDiscovery and Data Quality Assessment
o Detailedanalysis of source system data structures and content to assess “fitness forpurpose”.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Experiencein data analysis and modelling against transactional and analytical systems.
Experiencein the use of data modelling tools and the management of data modellingrepositories and solutions.
Experiencein using data profiling, using both automated tools and hand coded SQL todetermine data quality metrics, constraints, etc.
Experiencein the delivery of large scale, information management, informationgovernance and analytics solutions
At least 5years of data modelling and analysis experience.
Workingknowledge of large enterprise relational database management systemscomprising of traditional databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle) and cloud basedplatforms and solutions within AWS.
Workingknowledge of data governance frameworks, processes and technologies such asdata catalogues and business glossaries.
