About the Role
As an After Hours Building Maintenance Technician, you'll be responsible for reactive maintenance, minor repairs, building fabric maintenance, and small works across the hospital facility. Working independently during after-hours operations, you'll help ensure the hospital remains safe, functional, and compliant for patients, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities include:
General building maintenance and handyman duties
Basic carpentry, patching, painting, plaster repairs, and minor building works
Maintenance of doors, ceilings, partitions, fixtures, and finishes
Responding to urgent maintenance requests and breakdowns
Conducting building inspections and preventative maintenance tasks
Supporting compliance and asset maintenance programs
Coordinating specialist contractors when required
Maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer service
About You
We're looking for a practical, self-motivated maintenance professional who can confidently work autonomously and prioritise tasks in a live healthcare environment.
You will have:
Experience in building maintenance, handyperson, facilities maintenance, or multi-trade roles
Skills across carpentry, patching, painting, plastering, tiling, and general repairs
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work safely and professionally in a regulated environment
Current Driver's Licence
White Card (essential)
Highly Regarded
Experience working in hospitals, healthcare, aged care, or complex facilities
EWP or High Risk Boom Licence
Basic plumbing or electrical knowledge
Experience completing minor fit-outs and small projects
Ability to work in plant rooms, confined spaces, and at heights
