Brisbane Field Operations Technician
My Parcel Locker
Job Description
Flexible, hands-on technical role with genuine opportunity to grow
My Parcel Locker is looking for a dependable, technically capable and mechanically minded person to support our expanding Brisbane operations.
This role offers genuine flexibility and would suit someone who wants meaningful part‑time work without necessarily committing to a traditional full‑time schedule.
You may be semi‑retired, returning to the workforce, balancing family commitments, or simply looking for a flexible technical role where you can work independently and take ownership of your day.
Initially, the position will generally involve 5–6 hours per day, 3–4 days per week, with flexibility around scheduling.
Importantly, this is not necessarily intended to remain a small part‑time position. Following several months of on‑the‑job training and assessment, we expect the role to develop into a more substantial position as your technical knowledge, responsibilities and involvement in the Brisbane operation increase.
The Role
My Parcel Locker supplies, installs and supports secure parcel locker systems in apartment buildings and other locations throughout Australia.
As our Brisbane Field Operations Technician, you will become one of our key people on the ground, carrying out a combination of technical, maintenance, installation and stakeholder‑facing work.
- Conducting scheduled inspections and operational checks of parcel locker systems throughout Brisbane.
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, connectivity and system‑related faults.
- Carrying out minor repairs, adjustments and preventative maintenance.
- Assisting with the delivery, assembly, positioning, installation and commissioning of new parcel locker systems.
- Using common hand and power tools including battery drills, grinders, sockets, spanners and general installation equipment.
- Testing components including electronic locks, touchscreens, scanners, cameras, computers and modems.
- Identifying recurring issues and helping determine practical solutions rather than simply reporting faults.
- Liaising professionally with building managers, contractors, courier depot managers and other stakeholders.
- Transporting our mini demonstration locker to courier depots and other locations as required.
- Conducting parcel locker demonstrations and assisting with courier training and onboarding.
- Building positive working relationships with courier depot managers, delivery drivers and other industry stakeholders.
- Managing your own appointments, travel and daily priorities with minimal supervision.
- Providing clear updates on completed work, outstanding issues and any emerging operational concerns.
Who We Are Looking For
This role requires more than basic handyman ability.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong combination of mechanical aptitude, electrical understanding, diagnostic ability and practical problem‑solving skills.
You do not need previous parcel locker experience, as comprehensive training will be provided, but you must be someone who enjoys understanding how things work and is comfortable investigating and resolving problems.
- Strong mechanical and practical skills.
- Good electrical and technical aptitude.
- Excellent fault‑finding and diagnostic ability.
- Experience confidently using hand and power tools.
- A logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
- The ability to work autonomously and take responsibility for completing tasks.
- Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building ability.
- Confidence dealing with building managers, courier depot managers, contractors and customers.
- Good computer and smartphone skills.
- A professional and well‑presented manner.
- A current Australian driver’s licence.
- Your own reliable vehicle.
Previous experience in field service, electrical work, mechanical maintenance, telecommunications, equipment installation, security systems, appliance repair, building services or a similar technical role would be highly regarded.
Formal trade qualifications are advantageous but are not essential where an applicant can demonstrate strong practical and diagnostic capability.
Vehicle and Demo Locker Requirements
As part of the role, you will also support our courier engagement program by transporting and demonstrating our Brisbane mini parcel locker unit at courier depots and other locations.
The demonstration locker is approximately the size of a standard three‑drawer filing cabinet and weighs around 25 kg.
- Own a reliable SUV, wagon, van or similarly suitable vehicle capable of transporting the demonstration locker.
- Be physically capable of safely loading, securing, transporting and unloading equipment weighing approximately 25 kg.
- Be comfortable travelling to courier depots throughout Brisbane and surrounding areas.
- Confidently demonstrate the My Parcel Locker system to courier drivers and depot staff.
- Assist with courier onboarding and explain how the locker system is used in a clear and professional manner.
Approved business vehicle use and travel will be reimbursed or covered under an agreed vehicle allowance arrangement.
Flexibility
One of the major advantages of this position is flexibility.
The role will initially involve approximately 5–6 hours per day, 3–4 days per week.
The exact days and hours can be reasonably flexible and arranged around operational requirements, scheduled maintenance, installations and appointments.
This may particularly suit someone looking for work during school hours, a semi‑retired tradesperson or technician, or an experienced person wanting to return to the workforce without immediately taking on a full‑time position.
At the same time, we are looking for someone who would be interested in developing with the business.
During the first several months you will receive extensive practical and on‑the‑job training across our locker systems, installations, maintenance procedures and courier operations.
Once trained and operating confidently, there is genuine potential for increased hours, greater responsibility and a more substantial ongoing role within the Brisbane operation.
What We Offer
- Competitive casual rate of $45–$55 per hour, depending on experience and capability.
- Flexible working hours.
- Comprehensive technical and operational training.
- Varied work rather than performing the same task every day.
- A high level of autonomy once trained.
- Opportunity to develop into a larger role as the Brisbane operation grows.
- Exposure to technical operations, installations, logistics and major courier organisations.
- Support from an experienced national operations team.
- Vehicle allowance or reimbursement for approved business travel.
We are looking for a dependable person who enjoys practical work, solving problems and taking responsibility for getting things done properly.
