The Company

Our client is a well-regarded, large and complex organisation with a diverse operational portfolio. They are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to support a key business division focused on accommodation and community-based services. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders, delivering quality reporting, and contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and month-end processes.

The Role

Reporting into the finance leadership team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting, analysis, and reporting of key financial data across a multi-faceted operational portfolio. You will also provide financial management support, contribute to month-end and year-end activities, and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end journals in line with relevant accounting standards
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and sub-ledgers
  • Manage accounting activities for an accommodation and community services portfolio
  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly management reports
  • Analyse budget variances and provide meaningful commentary on performance
  • Assist in preparing financial commentary for management reporting
  • Support the annual budgeting and cash flow forecasting process
  • Provide reporting across multiple operating business units within the portfolio
  • Oversee monthly financial close activities for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including year-end support
  • Provide advice on financial management, reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, compliance, and financial policy matters
  • Liaise with internal finance teams and operational stakeholders to gather information and ensure consistency in financial processes
  • Assist with annual reporting requirements, month-end close, subsidiary ledger close, and reconciliations
  • Support ad hoc finance tasks and projects as required

Your Profile

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  • Full professional membership with a recognised Australian accounting body such as CA ANZ or CPA Australia
  • Proven experience in financial management, accounting, reporting, and analysis
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial legislation, and best practice, including exposure to IFRS
  • Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
  • Strong reconciliation and month-end close experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong overall systems capability
  • Experience using ERP/accounting systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and show initiative
