Duties

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same: as an Health Analyst you will:

• Work with the Medical Office, Business Insights team, and other internal and external stakeholders (as required) to assist in understanding the available healthcare data and how it can be leveraged efficiently and appropriately to support Workers Compensation
• Assist in understanding and operationalisation of relevant healthcare data related documents, such as fee schedules, guidelines, standards of practice and regulations.
• Identify, manage and update external reference data for icare (eg SIRA fee orders, AMA rules, etc) including maintenance of reference tables
• Keep abreast with the evolving changes in regulatory reporting requirements, legislative reforms, and healthcare industry changes to ensure business process and practices are aligned and relevant
• Actively promote new healthcare datasets within and externally to the organisation. Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure incorporation of high-quality capture and control mechanisms in other systems/platforms.
• Assist with healthcare data quality related initiatives
• Prepare regular standard reporting and data analysis with relevant insights and recommendations to the Medical Office and Workers Compensation.
• Define logical healthcare compliance rules based on internal or external rules.
• Support rule development process (including run example queries, interact with business stakeholders to refine logic, check for false positives)
• Workflow analytics and management of the data created by the compliance processes (eg leakage metrics being reported and actioned in operational/provider reports with feedback data from operational/provider compliance actions)
• Training Claims Service Providers and staff to use reports, amending or walking through processes, and maintaining documentation.

Skills & Experience

• Relevant tertiary qualification (bachelor or post graduate degree) in Data analytics, healthcare analytics, biostatistics, or Health Information Management/coding
• Analytical mindset with good problem-solving skills
• Solid understanding of coding and how to develop and maintain scripts
• Technical understanding and experience working with enterprise data warehouse
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with data analytics
• Sound understanding of the NSW workers compensation system, process, guidelines and data sets
• Background in healthcare data analytics
• Experience in creating reporting and providing meaningful healthcare analyses in complex information system environments
• Experience in obtaining data from sources such as SAS, CDR, TMF data warehouse
• Business domain knowledge in the healthcare and insurance industries
