Job Description
Audubon is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in our Bogotá, Colombia office. The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records while supporting the month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards. This position serves as a key resource within the accounting department, helping to improve financial processes, mentor staff, and support cross-functional initiatives.
The Senior Accountant exercises sound professional judgment and works independently on complex accounting issues while collaborating with finance, operations, and business leaders.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Accounting
- Prepare and record complex journal entries.
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
- Analyze general ledger activity and investigate variances.
- Ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
- Maintain supporting documentation for all accounting transactions.
- Lead assigned areas of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
- Prepare financial schedules and management reports.
- Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial statements.
- Monitor close deadlines and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
Analysis & Compliance
- Perform balance sheet and income statement analysis.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Assist with external audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
- Support tax reporting and regulatory filings as needed.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to automate or streamline accounting processes.
- Assist with ERP system enhancements, testing, and implementation initiatives.
- Develop and document accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Recommend best practices to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Project & Operational Support
- Partner with business units to resolve accounting issues.
- Assist with project accounting, revenue recognition, and cost analysis when applicable.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Research accounting guidance and prepare technical accounting documentation.
Leadership
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff.
- Review work prepared by staff accountants for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist management with special projects and strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned accounting functions.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-8 years of professional accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience.
- Experience with ERP systems (such as Acumatica, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar) preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Financial analysis and reporting knowledge.
- Project accounting experience preferred.
