Director of Sales And Business Development

LiftUp Enterprises

ChicagoFull-timeMid LevelOn-site

Job Description

You will be hired by our operating business: Do Right Services Company is a fast-growing social enterprise built on the belief that dignity is good for people and good for business. Through our dignity-based operating principles, we are redefining workforce management while delivering exceptional commercial cleaning and landscaping services throughout the Chicagoland area. As we continue to grow, we're looking for leaders who are excited by the opportunity to help build what comes next.

We are seeking an entrepreneurial Director of Business Development & Sales who is energized by growth, ownership, and the opportunity to shape the future of a rapidly expanding organization. This is much more than a traditional sales role. While the Director of Business Development & Sales will be responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding our client base, they will also work directly with our founders and General Manager to identify new markets, pursue strategic partnerships, and help influence the company's long-term growth strategy.

This opportunity is ideal for an early- to mid-career sales or business development professional who has demonstrated success building relationships and generating new business and is ready to take the next step in their career. We're looking for someone who is ambitious, resourceful, and eager to grow alongside a company with significant momentum.

The Director of Business Development & Sales will serve as a key member of our leadership team, helping to drive both revenue and innovation. Success in this role requires someone who enjoys building rather than simply maintaining, sees ambiguity as opportunity, and isn't afraid to pursue ideas that haven't been tried before. As our organization evolves, the Director of Business Development & Sales will have the opportunity to shape business strategy, influence new initiatives, and play an integral role in our next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Strategic Growth

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across city, county, state, and commercial markets.
  • Research market trends, competitor activity, emerging industries, and underserved markets to identify strategic growth opportunities.
  • Develop innovative go-to-market strategies and identify opportunities to expand our service offerings and client base.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to evaluate new business opportunities, partnerships, and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Generate qualified leads through networking, strategic outreach, referrals, and industry events.
  • Develop compelling proposals, presentations, and sales strategies that communicate both our services and our differentiated approach to workforce management.
  • Build professional pitch decks and client presentations from concept to completion with a high degree of independence.
  • Negotiate contracts and successfully close high-value business opportunities.
  • Establish measurable sales goals, manage pipeline activity, and forecast revenue opportunities.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, community partners, and key stakeholders to support long-term growth and retention.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and internal teams to ensure client expectations are met and projects are successfully delivered.
  • Represent Do Right Services Company with professionalism while serving as an ambassador for our mission, values, and commitment to dignity-centered employment.

Who Will Thrive Here

This role is well suited for someone who:

  • Enjoys building markets rather than simply managing accounts.
  • Is energized by ambiguity, ownership, and the opportunity to help shape a growing organization.
  • Sees challenges as opportunities to innovate and create new solutions.
  • Is comfortable working directly with executive leadership and contributing ideas beyond their job description.
  • Takes initiative, follows through, and doesn't wait to be told what to do next.
  • Wants to build a career, not just hit the next sales quota.
  • Believes exceptional businesses can create meaningful impact for employees, clients, and communities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, account management, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of government procurement processes, particularly within city, county, and state agencies.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with presentation software, including PowerPoint, Canva, Google Slides, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to independently create professional sales presentations and pitch decks.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Why This Role Is Different

At Do Right Services Company, sales is more than generating revenue, it's helping shape the future of a company that's challenging conventional thinking about work, management, and opportunity. You'll work directly alongside executive leadership, contribute to strategic decisions, and have the opportunity to influence the direction of a growing social enterprise.

If you're looking for a role with clearly defined boundaries, this may not be the right fit. If you're energized by ownership, curiosity, calculated risk-taking, and the opportunity to build something meaningful, we'd love to meet you.
