Job Description

Job Title: Warehouse & Logistics Officer

Location: Arundel, Gold Coast

Industry: Civil Construction

Employment: Full-time

Salary: $42 - $45 per hour, plus penalties & allowances

About PCA Ground Engineering

PCA Ground Engineering is a specialist ground engineering and civil construction contractor delivering complex projects across Queensland and New South Wales. Our work spans piling, ground improvement, retention, earthworks, civil infrastructure, and pavement construction. With over 150 staff and a national project footprint, we move significant plant, equipment, and materials every day, and our logistics function is central to keeping projects running safely and on programme.

The Role

This is a hands-on role with genuine administrative scope. You will keep our Arundel yard running, coordinate logistics movements across all PCA sites, and own the administration of our Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance system under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL). You will also directly supervise yard staff, making this a lead operator position rather than a pure operator role.

You will report directly to the Logistics Manager and work closely with project teams, site supervisors, subcontractors, and suppliers across QLD and NSW.

Key Responsibilities

Warehouse and Yard Operations

  • Manage stock, parts, and inventory, including accurate location records and regular reconciliation.
  • Load and unload trucks using the forklift; prepare loads and equipment for dispatch to project sites.
  • Maintain IMS compliance and a high standard of yard housekeeping.
  • Directly supervise yard staff: allocate daily work, monitor performance, conduct pre-starts and toolbox talks.

Transport and Heavy Vehicle Operations

  • Drive PCA heavy vehicles (HC class) to transport plant and equipment to and from site when operationally required.
  • Support vehicle and plant allocation alongside the Logistics Manager.
  • Organise hire equipment where operationally and financially justified.

Chain of Responsibility (CoR) Administration

  • Administer PCA's CoR Management System and all associated documentation under the HVNL.
  • Monitor and record compliance across fatigue, speed, mass, dimension, load restraint, and maintenance obligations.
  • Maintain the Vehicle, Driver, Maintenance, and Incident Registers.
  • Prepare monthly CoR declarations for subcontractors and suppliers; support CoR audits and close non-conformances.
  • Monitor compliance events via Navman telematics.

Logistics Scheduling and Coordination

  • Schedule and track heavy vehicle and logistics movements between offices, yards, and project sites.
  • Prepare and issue daily and weekly logistics schedules and load sheets.
  • Liaise between site and office; drive purchasing and logistics efficiency across all PCA locations.

Contractor and Supplier Management

  • Engage and manage third-party logistics providers in line with PCA's procurement and CoR procedures.
  • Verify contractor compliance through audits, insurance checks, and CoR documentation.
  • Coordinate bookings for tilt trays, crane trucks, and other logistics subcontractors.
  • Track and approve contractor dockets and invoices prior to accounts submission.
  • Maintain logistics and CoR records in Assignar, Navman, and Business Central.

The ideal candidate will have the following mandatory attributes;

  • Forklift licence (LF class or equivalent).
  • Heavy Combination (HC) truck licence.
  • Motor vehicle licence.
  • White Card (Construction Industry Card).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in logistics, warehouse operations, or compliance support.
  • Working knowledge of CoR and HVNL obligations, or demonstrated ability to develop this quickly.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Solid organisational skills with high attention to detail across both administrative and physical tasks.
  • Genuine willingness to drive heavy vehicles when operationally required.
  • Physical fitness for lifting, bending, and forklift operation.

Preferred

  • Experience with logistics scheduling, telematics, or inventory management platforms (Assignar, Navman, Business Central).
  • Previous experience in a warehouse or parts management role within construction, mining, or civil.
  • Experience supervising a small team.
