Are you the person who loves keeping everything balanced, organized, and running smoothly behind the scenes? If you enjoy taking ownership of the accounts payable process, solving problems, and being a trusted resource within an accounting team, we'd love to hear from you! We're seeking an Accounts Payable Accountant who is detail-oriented, dependable, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role is much more than processing invoices - it's an opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of a well-established organization while collaborating with departments across the agency.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the full accounts payable cycle, from invoice review through payment processing.
  • Audit invoices, purchase orders, payment requests, and employee expense reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and assist with month-end closing activities.
  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies while providing excellent internal customer service.
  • Maintain vendor records, including W-9 documentation, TIN verification, and annual 1099 reporting.
  • Handle daily cash receipts, bank deposits, and monthly cash reconciliations.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for annual external audits.
  • Serve as a resource for fellow accounting team members and provide backup support when needed.
  • Maintain accounting procedures and assist with new employee orientation related to financial processes.
  • Complete special projects and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Someone who enjoys working with numbers just as much as they enjoy improving processes and supporting others.

Qualified Candidates Will Have

  • Education in Accounting, Business, or Finance and at least two years of accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to jump in where needed.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, in-office position in a collaborative accounting department. You'll enjoy a role that offers variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are exactly alike.

Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm, $20.47/hr. Generous benefit package!
