About the role

Imperial College London is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) in Translational Neuroimaging to work on the Imperial Neurosciences Quantitative Imaging Platform (INQIP) - an ambitious research initiative that aims to revolutionise the diagnosis of dementia and other neurological conditions through translation of quantitative neuroimaging and machine learning methods applied to clinical data.

This post is funded by the Imperial Health Charity and involves working closely with staff and systems at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply computational methods to real-world clinical imaging and patient data, helping bridge the gap between state-of-the-art research and clinical practice.

You will be central to the development of automated pipelines and tools for the pseudonymisation and quantitative analysis (including machine learning) of clinical brain scans and linked patient information. A major focus will be on clinical translation, developing and evaluating clinically relevant tools. This post offers an outstanding opportunity to join a multi-disciplinary team across Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and the successful candidate will benefit from close collaboration with researchers and clinicians.

What you would be doing

You will design, develop, deploy, and evaluate automated pipelines for the pseudonymisation and quantitative analysis of clinical brain scans (MRI, CT, PET) from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. You will develop automated workflows to analyse individual scans, generate reports, integrate outputs with research PACS, and make them accessible and understandable to clinical teams. You will be expected to collaborate closely with researchers and clinicians across Imperial College London and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

You will also actively participate more broadly in the research programme of the group.

What we are looking for

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as neuroscience, biomedical engineering, medical physics, computer science, statistics, or a closely related field
  • Strong experience in clinical neuroimaging analysis, quantitative image processing, or medical image computing
  • Strong experience in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB), software (e.g., FSL), and operating systems (e.g. Linux)
  • Experience with the XNAT platform
  • A strong publication record in reputable, international, peer-reviewed journals
  • Willingness to work as part of a team, to be open-minded and cooperative
  • Ability to organise your own work with minimal supervision
  • A creative approach to problem-solving; a "doer"
