About the role

Vinova is working with an energy developer seeking a Head of Engineering to join its Sydney-based team. Reporting directly to the executive leadership team, you will lead the technical function responsible for a growing portfolio of utility-scale energy projects and operating assets.

You’ll manage and develop a team across grid and engineering while acting as the senior technical interface between commercial, construction and operations. The role will provide technical leadership across technology selection, due diligence, project delivery, commissioning, asset performance and long term technical strategy. You will also represent the business externally with OEMs, EPC contractors, AEMO, Network Service Providers, technical advisers and other key industry stakeholders.

Duties

• Lead and develop the technical team across grid, engineering and asset performance
• Set the technical strategy and standards across the energy portfolio from development through operations
• Provide senior technical oversight across technology selection, due diligence, design, construction, commissioning and asset performance
• Guide executive and investment decisions through technical risk assessment, commercial input and industry expertise

Skills & Experience

• Deep technical knowledge of utility-scale renewable generation and storage
• Proven leadership experience with responsibility for technical or engineering teams
• Strong understanding of the NEM, AEMO frameworks, grid connection requirements and relevant BESS standards
• Experience across the development, construction, commissioning or operation of utility-scale projects or comparable energy infrastructure
• Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or related technical qualification; CPEng or equivalent accreditation highly regarded
• Senior leadership position reporting directly to the executive leadership
• Opportunity to shape technical strategy across a growing utility-scale portfolio

• High level of influence across executive decisions, technical standards and future projects
