Role Title: CAD Operator

Position Summary:

Prepare and revise sketches, diagrams, maps and plan drawings of FM insured locations using Engineering Plan Services production systems to support engineers in accurately understanding the site hazards.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare report sketches, data plans, survey plans and/or special servicing requests using the computer aided drafting tools based on field notes, engineering drawings, electronic files and instructions.
  • Collaborate with Surveyors, QC, and Supervisors, to complete drawing projects of varying sizes and complexity.
  • Ensure accurate and consistent plan data by applying established standards and requirements including scale and drafting symbols.
  • Efficiently reviews, revises, and updates existing drawings to support timely and accurate production deliverables.
  • Maintain current knowledge of EPS practices, procedures, products, services and production technologies.
  • Communicate progress and escalate issues impacting deadlines to Manager/Supervisor/Surveyor in a timely manner.
  • Support EPS workload demands as needed, including assisting with non-drafting tasks.


Skill and Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience required to perform essential job functions.
  • Additional Experience Qualifier (optional): Minimum of one-year in a production-based or technical drafting environment
  • CAD drafting and plan production proficiency
  • Ability to interpret field notes and engineering data
  • Quality control and drafting standards compliance
  • Technical proficiency with CAD, GIS, document management
  • Work order management, document publishing, and processing accuracy
  • Customer-focused attention to detail
  • Clear communication and collaboration across all roles


Must Have Skills:

  • Work order management skills with a focus on processing accuracy
  • Review Drawings, Changes, highlighting
  • Technical documentation, construction background, Engineering Design experience (Good to have)
  • Experience with document publishing and quality verification
  • Strong customer focused attention to detail
  • Technical proficiency with document management systems
  • Effective communication and coordination across all roles


Education and Certifications:

  • 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree required
