Job DescriptionSenior Process Engineer Packaging An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experiencedSenior Process Engineer Packaging to join a global leader in the medical device manufacturing sector. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving process performance, leading a team of technicians, and delivering continuous improvements across a highly automated, high-volume packaging operation. Working within a regulated manufacturing environment, you will act as the technical expert for packaging processes and equipment, supporting production, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, delivery and cost.

Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a team of technicians, providing technical guidance and day-to-day production support. Act as the subject matter expert for fully automated, high-speed packaging equipment and processes. Drive structured problem-solving and root cause investigations to improve process performance and equipment reliability.

Champion data-driven continuous improvement initiatives to enhance OEE, quality and productivity. Review and optimise preventative maintenance programmes to maximise equipment uptime. Collaborate with production, maintenance and engineering teams to resolve technical issues efficiently.

Work closely with suppliers to optimise packaging materials and machine performance. Support the introduction of new equipment and processes, ensuring robust validation and successful handover into production. Lead CAPA, non-conformance and customer complaint investigations.

Manage change controls and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory requirements. Develop and deliver technical training to support team capability and performance. Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring appropriate risk assessments and safe working practices.

About You Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 10 years' process engineering experience within a manufacturing environment. Previous experience leading or managing engineering technicians or technical teams.

Strong knowledge of automated, high-speed packaging equipment and packaging processes. Proven track record of improving equipment reliability, preventative maintenance programmes and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). Experience applying structured problem-solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, DMAIC or Root Cause Analysis.

Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, including TPM and Standard Work. Experience working within a regulated industry such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals or another GMP environment is highly desirable. Familiarity with equipment validation, change control and quality systems is advantageous.
