Our client is an established CPA firm located in North York, providing personalized accounting, assurance, and tax services to privately held businesses, entrepreneurs, and organizations across a variety of industries. The firm is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their growing team. The Opportunity
The successful candidate will work alongside managers and partners on a variety of engagements, including audits, review engagements, compilations, financial reporting, and tax assignments. This role offers strong mentorship and the opportunity to continue building a successful public accounting career.
Responsibilities
- Prepare compilation, review engagement, and audit working papers
- Assist with audit planning, fieldwork, testing, and completion procedures
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules under ASPE
- Prepare corporate, personal, and other tax returns
- Complete working paper files, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Perform accounting analysis and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with year-end engagements and tax planning assignments
- Communicate with clients to obtain information, resolve questions, and provide updates
- Support managers and partners with client engagements and special projects
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of public accounting experience preferred
- CPA designation in progress or successful completion of the CFE exam
- Experience with audits, reviews, compilations, and financial statement preparation
- Experience preparing corporate and personal tax returns
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and Canadian tax requirements
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset
