We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 and 2027 school year Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The School

Geographe Education Support Centre is located in Busselton and caters for students with a range of disabilities from Kindergarten to Year 12. Throughout their school years, our students have amazing opportunities. They will learn how to care for themselves, be responsible, stay safe, protect themselves and be confident and caring individuals.

They will actively engage in their communities through caring for the environment, joining teams, becoming great workers and volunteering.

The Role

We are seeking qualified education support teachers to work across our (K-12) school. An education support teaching qualification or significant experience working with students with disabilities is essential. Our staff work collaboratively across both campuses and there is a constant exchange of ideas between our primary and secondary staff.

Suitable applicants will ideally use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to enhance student learning and wellbeing. Applicants should also be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning. We are looking for teachers who can thrive in a close knit small team of teachers.

They should plan, program, and assess using an integrated curriculum, differentiated to meet individual student needs. Applicants will also ideally have highly effective teaching practices, an ability to self-reflect and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.

We are seeking applicants who are ideally hardworking and knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in all areas. Teachers in an education support environment positively manage a team of Education Assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. They engage with and contribute to the school community and work collaboratively with families, therapists, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes.

Good team management and problem solving skills are highly regarded.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
