Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a hands-on Company Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, your primary responsibility will be the financial accounting and reporting for RIS Safety, our largest operating entity. You will also have the opportunity to support the accounting and reporting requirements of our subsidiary businesses, providing exposure to a diverse multi entity group.

As the Company Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage the month-end and year-end close process , ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate accounting workpapers and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare monthly management reports and provide commentary.
  • Prepare and review BAS, GST, Payroll Tax and other statutory compliance obligations.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and cash flow reporting.
  • Support the preparation of consolidated financial reports and board reporting.
  • Assist with the financial reporting and accounting requirements of subsidiary businesses within the group as required.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, banks, and external advisers.
  • Partner with operational managers to provide financial support
  • Assist with finance projects, system implementations and business improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business or Commerce.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a Company Accountant role
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, GST, Payroll Tax and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, PivotTables and LookUp functions.
  • Experience using ERP/accounting systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to operational and non-financial stakeholders.
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to work independently while contributing as part of a collaborative finance team.
  • A proactive mindset with a genuine desire to improve, processes and reporting.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
