About the opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Letters Regulation, the Senior/ Principal Regulatory Modeller develops and improves Australia Post’s regulatory models, provides detailed economic and financial analysis, and offers strategic advice on complex pricing issues. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to Australia Post’s price notification process with the ACCC to achieve the pricing objectives for our reserved letter service.

This is a 12 - month Fixed Term Opportunity.

You’ll alsobe

  • Developing analytical frameworks, econometric models, and data-driven insights to inform pricing strategy and regulatory decision-making.
  • Leading economic analysis and regulatory submissions that support the reserved letter service pricing strategy and price notification process.
  • Gathering, validating, and modelling data from across the business to develop robust evidence and support engagement with the ACCC.
  • Preparing and maintaining regulatory models, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing strategic advice on industry trends, regulatory developments, and ACCC decisions, incorporating outcomes into pricing frameworks and processes.
  • Challenging assumptions, identifying risks, and strengthening the commercial and economic rationale underpinning pricing proposals.

About you

You have a strong background in economics, finance or data modelling with demonstrated experience in a pricing regulation or policy setting. Your expertise in economic modelling and data analysis supports well-informed pricing decisions, and you’re well-versed in regulatory economic principles.

With strong analytical and numeracy skills, you critically assess complex regulatory pricing issues with precision. Your natural curiosity and structured problem-solving approach enable you to uncover key business insights and shape informed strategy.

You’ll also have

  • Strong financial and economic modelling skills, with the ability to critically assess regulatory models and provide data-driven insights that inform commercial and policy decisions.
  • An understanding of the principles of regulation and/or an understanding of the ACCC’s pricing function (or other regulatory pricing functions)
  • A detail-oriented mindset with the ability to challenge assumptions and anticipate potential risks through critical and strengthen analysis.
